Russia celebrates International Day of Parliamentarism

The Russian Parliament has issued a commemorative stamp for the International Day of Parliamentarism and the IPU’s 130th anniversary on 30 June.

The stamp was launched in Moscow on 27 June 2019 by the Chairman of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, and the Head of the Federal Agency of Communication, Oleg Dukhovnitsky.

In her remarks at the ceremony, Ms. Matvienko said that the International Day of Parliamentarism, which was established by the United Nations in 2018, unites all parliamentarians of the world.

The Parliament also had the IPU video, 130 years in 130 seconds, translated into Russian. It was shown at a plenary session of the Council of the Federation on 10 July that was attended by senators and the leaders of the Council of the Federation.

The IPU’s 130th anniversary takes place on 30 June 2019, on the International Day of Parliamentarism.
