Nearly every country in the world has some form of parliament. Parliamentary systems fall into two categories: bicameral and unicameral. Out of 190 national parliaments in the world, 78 are bicameral (156 chambers) and 112 are unicameral, making a total of 268 chambers of parliament with some 44,000 members of parliament. Shout Out to Youth Changemakers
Summary
The IPU is hosting a “Shout Out to Changemakers” online event for those who have signed up to the “I Say Yes to Youth in Parliament!” campaign to celebrate the second anniversary of the campaign and its achievements.
Mobilizing political action to enhance youth participation in parliament, the IPU launched the I Say Yes to Youth in Parliament! campaign in 2021.
The campaign is anchored around six pledges identified by young MPs themselves as the most effective to enhance youth participation. It mobilizes political leaders, parliamentarians, and stakeholders of all ages to take transformative action for youth by making and implementing one or more pledges.
Since the launch of the campaign, over 1,300 Changemakers have signed up, including over 600 MPs from over 130 countries, almost 60 Speakers of Parliament, and multiple Heads of State, youth leaders, heads of United Nations agencies and other key stakeholders.
The online “Shout out to Changemakers” will bring together those who have signed up to the campaign, including Speakers of Parliament, parliamentarians, political leaders, as well as leaders from international organizations, civil society, youth groups, and more!
