Saint Vincent and the Grenadines becomes the 179th member of the IPU

The IPU welcomes its 179th member, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, bringing the IPU one step closer to universal membership. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines joined the IPU at its 140th Assembly in Doha, Qatar, represented by the Speaker of the Parliament, Mr Thomas Sanga.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a Caribbean nation that gained independence in 1979. It is a parliamentary democracy with a unicameral parliament, the House of Assembly. There are 15 directly elected members, 6 senatros (appointed members) and 2 ex officio members (the Speaker and Attorney General).

The IPU welcomes the House of Assembly of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to the global organization of parliaments.
