IPU receives masks from Vietnamese Ambassador

In a courtesy visit to IPU headquarters in Geneva, Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai donated 1,500 medical masks for IPU staff as a gesture of solidarity in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Permanent Representative of Viet Na​​m to the United Nations Office, the World Trade Organization and other International Organizations in Geneva, Ms. Mai presented the medical masks to Secretary General, Mr. Martin Chungong, on behalf of the Chairwoman of the Vietnamese National Assembly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Ms. Mai underlined the importance of the IPU in enhancing cooperation and partnership between the United Nations and parliaments. Ambassador Mai also affirmed her desire for Viet Nam’s permanent mission in Geneva to serve as a bridge promoting cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the IPU.

Mr. Chungong applauded the achievements of Viet Nam in contributing to regional and international diplomacy, particularly as the current Chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

Mr. Chungong will participate in an online AIPA conference on cultural and educational cooperation for sustainable development, organized by the Vietnamese National Assembly on July 30.
